Monaghan Pool Player Claims English Title

Monaghan Inter County 8ball pool player David Mc Quillian who hails from Monaghan Town stormed to victory last weekend in England to win the Club Open Event 2 at Hinckley Island Hotel, Hinckley, England defeating a host of top international pool players from throughout the UK and Ireland to take the title in this prestigious organised event which attracts over three hundred pool players with all events taking place in different venues throughout England.........

Over the May bank holiday weekend from Friday 1st -----Sunday 3rd 2009 in Ennis Co. Clare David who is the Co. Monaghan Inter County 8Ball Pool Team captain and selector will be looking for a repeat of the same performance which he displayed last weekend in England to rub off in his fellow players when they compete at the grand-finals of the All Ireland Inter County Team Championships, when they will be trying to bring back All Ireland glory to the Monaghan county when they compete against the following inter county teams in the qualifying stages who they have drawn in the same group Meath, Louth, Leitrim with all fixtures played in a round robin group format with the top two teams progressing to the knockout stages.......

David’s victory in England was a marvellous achievement from the Co. Monaghan cueist which he will treasure for many years to come putting this international title alongside his other fantastic win when he claimed the All Ireland Pub Players 8Ball Pool Champiomship title for the first time back in 2007 defeating Manny Byrne (Down) on that occasion in the final on a 6-1 score-line in TJs Pool Venue in Newry Co. Down......

On route to claiming the English Club Open Event 2 tournament the Co. Monaghan cueist defeated the following top players to be crowned champion starting off in the last-128 with a 4-0 victory over Ben Annison, Mark Singleton (last-64, 4-0), Mark Asbury (last-32, 5-3), Darren Begley (last-16, 5-4), Andrew O’Hara (¼-finals, 5-3), John Sullivan (semi-finals, 5-1) and finished of the tournament in fabulous style with a 6-1 victory over Chris McGee to be crowned champion.....
