Westmeath 8-Ball Pool Association “BREAKING - NEWS”

West Meath “X DOUBLES” Tournament:
This is the extra tournament organised by Westmeath Pool Association after the Westmeath Pool Masters

Dates: Monday 3rd November and Friday 7th November 2008

Team Entry Fee: €30.

Venue: The Auld Shebeen Hotel Moate.

NOTE:
The following currently ranked top 12 players cannot be team-mates in this event……They are as follows D Clarke, R Malynn, E Dolan, A Muldarry, P Tully, T Parker, L Claffey, T Jordan, J Brennan, C Monaghan, G Allen and David McCormack.

A player can’t take two consecutive shots at any time. If a player pots a ball, the team-mate will take the next shot and so on. It’s about team effort, as one good player can’t control the match, which tends to happen in the normal game of doubles.

WESTMEATH JUNIOR POOL
There are Westmeath Junior (U-18) tournaments held once every 4-6 weeks in The Auld Shebeen Hotel Moate.

We’ve already had two Junior competitions this season with some good pool on display. Players need to enter their name at least five days in advance of the tournament date.

Minimum of 16 players required for a junior tournament to be played.

Hopefully we will have a Junior Westmeath Team(s) in place for when the Irish Inter County Championships come about after Christmas.

There will be competitions for Under-15 players (Depending on numbers). They can learn how to play the game while having that competitive edge to it also.

The Irish Pool Association is literally screaming out for more juniors to take part in their Junior tournaments.

David McCormack of Rosemount lost 5-3 in the final of the Irish U18 tournament in Curracloe, Wexford recently. David beat 2 players from the Irish Junior team who were at the World Championships this year.

Westmeat Junior Pool Open ---- (Under-15)

Westmeath Junior Pool Challenge Cup ---- (Under-18)

WESTMEATH LADIES POOL
We are currently trying to arrange tournaments for the ladies of Westmeath. However, it has being to no avail.

We know that there are players around the county who can play pool to a decent standard, but it seems that they may be afraid to play in competition.

There are a few ladies who want to play in competition but we need just few more players to get something started.

The tournaments are there for the ladies to have a bit fun also and that they shouldn’t be afraid to play.

If we had one competition at least, it might be something that we could build on in future months and years.

A Ladies Westmeath Team (s) could be formulated from these competitions as mentioned in the juniors while the Irish Pool Association is looking for more Ladies to play in their tournaments.
Westmeath Ladies Pool Open:
Date: Bank Holiday Monday, October 27th.
Venue: The Auld Shebeen, Moate.
Entry Fee: €10
